Why should I donate to UNICEF and where does my donation go?

Our work for children would not be possible without voluntary support. UNICEF is funded entirely by contributions of individuals, businesses, foundations, and governments to support programmes for children in Viet Nam.

All donations are utilized to support programmes for children’s improved access to health and nutrition, safe water and sanitation, quality education, emergency support, and protection from violence and exploitation.

Together, with your help, we can save, protect and improve children’s lives. Through regular support, you can help us create long-lasting solutions to benefit not just one child, but thousands of children, for generations to come.

How do I know that my money won't end up in the wrong hands?

UNICEF has robust checks and balances to ensure funds are used properly, including regular internal and external audits, public spending reports, and field monitoring of programmes.

The use of funds is reported annually and disclosed on UNICEF’s website, detailing total mobilized budgets and results. All funding complies with international transparency standards and UNICEF’s financial regulations.

Since 2012, UNICEF has been a member of the International Aid Transparency Initiative and is consistently recognized as one of the most transparent international organizations.

How does my donation help?

When you donate to UNICEF, you’re contributing to a pool of funds that will be utilized to help children when and where they need it the most.

For malnourished children, you help UNICEF provide life-saving treatment and ready-to-eat therapeutic food packs. After an emergency, children receive school bags and supplies so they can immediately resume their studies.

To address basic needs in an evacuation center, UNICEF provides hygiene and sanitation supplies so they can access clean water and avoid getting sick.

These are just some examples of how your funds help UNICEF support children in Viet Nam in every situation at any time of the year.

Can I donate to a specific project?

While we are very grateful for any donations we receive, the most impactful way to support UNICEF's work is through unrestricted donations. These funds enable UNICEF to respond efficiently to emergencies and critical needs.

Flexible donations also ensure UNICEF Viet Nam humanitarian warehouse remains stocked, allowing essential supplies to reach children anywhere in the country within 72 hours.

Can I send in-kind donations to UNICEF?

As a matter of policy, UNICEF does not accept in-kind donations. This is because in-kind donations usually require shipping and handling costs which UNICEF cannot pay for or may not match the priority needs identified.

All UN agencies, including UNICEF, urge donors to make financial rather than in-kind donations.

What is the best way for our school/company to support UNICEF during emergencies?

The most effective way to support UNICEF during emergencies is through financial donations, fundraising initiatives, or awareness campaigns.
